We are pleased to announce the 3rd Uppsala Transposon Symposium – understanding population and ecological dynamics within genomes, which will take place at Uppsala Evolutionary Biology Centre on September 27, 2019. If you work on topics related to transposons, viruses, or genetic conflicts, please submit an abstract.
Registration is free, includes coffee/tea during coffee breaks, a dinner/party with food/drinks at buying price, and the opportunity to present your research as a regular talk or lightning talk. Welcome!
Important dates
- July 29: Registration is open! Apply here.
- August 31: Abstract submission deadline. Apply here.
[Please also register if you don’t intend to submit an abstract, so we can better estimate the total number of participants.] - September 06: Notification of abstract selection via email.
[From the contributed abstracts, 9 will be selected for regular talks and up to 30 for lightning talks.] - September 27: Symposium
Venue
Uppsala Evolutionary Biology Centre, Norbyvägen 18, SE-75236 Uppsala
(room to be determined, depending on number of abstract submissions)
Motivation
Transposable element (TE) research is currently experiencing a massive growth in interdisciplinarity, as knowledge of TE biology is increasingly appreciated to be necessary for fully understanding results in many areas of biological and biomedical research. The 3rd Uppsala Transposon Symposium aims at bringing together experts across all career stages, with a special focus on giving all participants the chance to present their research in a lightning talk.
Keynote speaker
New format!
This year, we aim to give everyone the chance to speak about their research and expand their scientific network. The symposium includes 9 slots for regular talks (10+5 minutes) and up to 30 slots for lightning talks (1-3 minutes, depending on number of abstract submissions). Lightning talks will be right before coffee breaks, providing plenty of time for discussions. Note that there will be no poster session. The symposium will be concluded by a methods-oriented round table discussion, followed by dinner and party at the venue.
